The Eye Institute of Nevada (EINV) prioritizes community engagement as a core pillar of its foundation and long-term success. Recognizing that strong community relationships are vital, EINV aims to foster collaboration with partners, raise awareness of its services and research, and provide eye health education.

During these months of planning for EINV, our leadership will be setting up a community engagement model that will begin with establishing an advisory board of community leaders, healthcare professionals, and partner representatives. This board will guide an initial community needs assessment to identify specific eye care needs, concerns, and service gaps within the community.

Community education is a key component of EINV's strategy, as we establish our academic eye institute and ophthalmology residency program within it. Through regular programs like workshops, seminars, and public events, EINV will educate the community about eye health. EINV will develop and distribute educational materials to area schools and collaborate with public schools statewide to offer vision screenings and promote regular eye exams and eye safety.

EINV is dedicated to partnering with community organizations to offer free or low-cost eye care clinics and eyeglasses across Nevada. These clinics, often held in conjunction with community health fairs hosted or attended by EINV, will promote eye health awareness, encourage participation in research and clinical trials, and increase public awareness of the Institute.

To address the needs of over 280,000 rural Nevadans with limited eye care access, EINV will establish a robust digital presence, including advanced telemedicine services designed for those with limited access or technological facilities. EINV will also maintain an online presence through social media to facilitate eye health education and discussion.

EINV is committed to gathering community feedback through multichannel mechanisms. This feedback will inform improvements to communication strategies and public programming. EINV will use surveys, focus groups, and data analytics to continuously evaluate its community engagement efforts and ensure they meet evolving needs.

EINV believes that sustained community engagement is essential for its future, fostering support, buy-in, and funding from local stakeholders and community partners.
